 Our activity is led by National Governing Body qualified tutors, we hold several governing body endorsements.


We deliver DofE expedition training and assessment at all levels.


Tutors hold current memberships of governing body organisations, and have active and recent CPD updates.


We deliver curriculum outcomes; tutors hold relevant professional teaching, training or youth awards.


We have the highest Safeguarding standards, (and make the evidence available) We use DBS and update service

Teesoutdoors is comitted to learning, David Hopwood  is an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute for Outdoor learning (IOL).  Accredited Practitioners of the Institute for Outdoor Learning are experienced facilitators of outdoor learning, with a consolidated breadth of experience.


The APIOL Award

APIOL is an award that recognises how people use their skills, knowledge and experience to design outdoor learning solutions for individuals and groups.

Award holders will have worked in challenging or unique environments and have experience planning, leading and evaluating programmes with a range of activities.

Shows commitment to standards and good practice in Outdoor Learning

Assures a balance of activity, learning and leadership.



Licenced Activity Provider

A licence indicates that the provider has been inspected by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service on behalf of the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, with particular attention being paid to their safety management systems with young people, and has been able to demonstrate compliance with nationally accepted standards of good practice in the delivery of adventure activities to young people, with due regard to the benefits and risks of the activity.'

HMS & LLL Course Provider


Mountain Training is the collective term used to describe all of the Home Nation Mountain Training Boards of the UK and Ireland. Each Home Nation Mountain Training Board is responsible for managing skills and award schemes along with the course Providers assigned to them.


Teesoutdoors is a provider of Hill and Mountain Skills, Lowland Leader training & Assessment And the Expedition module. many of our staff are members and also entitled to use the MTA logo in their own right.   


Teesoutdoors delivers a wide range of adventure, climing abseiling and mountain  informal and formal mountain and hill training including school GCSE and college FE courses.
