For work in years 4 ,5 or 6 we want pupils to be able to say:

I understand what humans need to survive.
I can research and obtain survival essentials.
I can find and identify basic fresh food.
I understand the rules for safe adventures.
I can ride a bike on the road safely
I can ride in the forest and on trails
I can start a fire.
I can collect and store water.
I can build a waterproof shelter using tarpaulins.
I can cook safely using fresh ingredients.
I can find my way (Geography curriculum)
I can spend nights away
I can take part in adventurous outdoor activities;
I can improve the local environment for nature.

Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.  John Muir
