INSPIRING EXPLORATION SHARING DISCOVERY
INSPIRING            EXPLORATION           SHARING            DISCOVERY

Children of all ages love being outside, exploring and having adventures on their own terms, our activites can be educational or just plain good fun...  talk to us about a party on a beach, or in a forest.  Or about a school trip to explore rivers. moors or mountains.

Camps, residentials and activity days

At the start of all our work is the belief that all pupils need to say I CAN DO:  Art, woodwork, craft, sing songs, discover birds and wildlife, explore homes and habitats. Learn about the world around me, the Animal Kingdom and how we share the world. Enjoy problem solving and teamwork.

Vital to this is that we share with each teacher evidence and recordings of progress and that we build direct links to curriculum in the school.

  • I can be safe around a fire.
  • I can climb a cliff
  • I can make a simple snack
  • I can paddle a raft
  • I can work with my friends
  • I can use natural materials
  • I can behave safely.
  • I can take part in adventures.
  • I can camp out for a night
  • I can respect nature and treat all creatures with care.
  • I can collect and describe
  • I can use a canoe
  • I can work in a team
  • I can collect patterns and shapes in nature.
  • I can use natural materials to create patterns, pictures.
  • I can tie simple knots – make journey sticks.
  • I can do simple fieldwork: birds, plants or animals.

We have placed a couple of links to really useful lesson plans for primay teachers at the bottom of this page!

For more advanced Primary work in years 4 ,5 or 6 we want pupils to be able to say:

  • I understand what humans need to survive.
  • I can research and obtain survival essentials.
  • I can find and identify basic fresh food.
  • I understand the rules for safe adventures.
  • I can ride a bike on the road safely
  • I can ride in the forest and on trails
  • I can start a fire.
  • I can collect and store water.
  • I can build a waterproof shelter using tarpaulins.
  • I can cook safely using fresh ingredients.
  • I can find my way (Geography curriculum)
  • I can spend nights away – 3 - 5 night residential
  • I can take part in adventurous outdoor activities;
  • I can improve the local environment for nature.

Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.  John Muir
