David is a qualified youth worker and teacher, Accredited Practitioner of the Institute of Outdoor Learning and Duke of Edinburgh Award assessor, with over 25 years experience in the outdoors. He has lived in Teesside since 1993, His interests include social and educational policy, and geography and he is committed to the outdoors and informal learning. He is a qualified, yacht skipper, safety boat driver, mountain & climbing leader, advanced canoe, and kayak coach for both inland and sea.
His experience includes work at Higher and Further education, Targeted Youth Work, Challenging behaviours in schools and both Primary and Secondary mainstream work, Leading and teaching in all the mountain areas of the UK, kayaking and canoeing in the UK and abroad. His main interest is education and youth work, community and personal development and in linking this to the outdoors, he has worked for both Outward Bound and Fairbridge (now the Princes Trust) in these capacities as well as developing West View Project a leading community youth and outdoor facility in Hartlepool. He is an NVQ assessor in youth and outdoor activity leadership as well as technical and consultant adviser to Local Authority, regional and national charity providers.David has completed the ROSPA recognised Outdoor equipment inspectors course.
David is committed to lifelong learning and volunteering, he supports local scouts, Delivered workshops for the Institute for Outdoor Learning Conferences worked for the British Canoe Union as Local Coaching Organizer, has been published in Horizons (the journal of the institute for outdoor learning).

Diane is a professionally qualified adult trainer and youth educator with further qualification as an NVQ assessor and youth worker; she is a qualified Mountain Leader, Climbing Instructor, Cycle and Canoe coach with a wide range of skills in youth programmes.
She has worked for national charities and local youth services. Diane’s experience includes long term therapeutic, progressive development programmes and a wide range of youth training, including working in the USA on high impact youth development projects, using wilderness experiences, trail and quest leadership in remote country and on wagon trains with young offenders.
Alongside working in the outdoors, Diane's work includes cycle skills, NVQ assessing, mentoring, and development support recently assessing teaching assistants in schools and assessing expedition leaders . She is passionate about working with young people and committed to community volunteering, she is an Explorer Scout and Cub leader, and supports a range of charities including Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
